Would you like to join us?
The reasons you may wish to join a choir are many and varied. You may be new to the area and wish to join a group of people who share your enthusiasm for choral music in all its many forms. You may have heard us performing and thought you’d like to be a part of it. Being a member of a choir has many benefits; it encourages and promotes teamwork, physical wellbeing (think posture and breath control!), the chance to make new friends, and not least the idea that you are playing your part in helping to create something well worthwhile which perhaps you may not be able to do on your own. The Phoenix Singers is a community choir, formed in the early 1980s comprising sopranos, altos, tenors and basses and, although based in Leek, draws its membership from the whole of the Staffordshire Moorlands and further afield too.
We give 2 major concerts annually, often in local churches and other locations as the occasion arises. We have given concerts abroad in Holland, France, Italy and Spain as part of choir exchanges. We also enjoy a good social life outside choir.
Rehearsals
The choir rehearses once a week on Monday evenings during term times at Leek First School, East Street, Leek between 7.30 and 9.15 pm (with a break in August). New members are not auditioned; potential recruits usually know for themselves within a few weeks whether or not choral singing is for them. Members pay an annual subscription of £100, usually in February.
You can be sure of a warm welcome and if you would like further information please contact us.
