21/10/85   Choir could not continue at Leek High because of lack of students in the Choir, a committee formed and premises to be found.

16/1/86     First rehearsal of new choir named Phoenix Singers St Edwards Subscription was 10p per week. John Fisher – Chairman, Alison Elliott – Secretary, Anthony Elliott – Treasurer.

15/12/2012 Christmas Concert with Young Phoenix featuring the world premiere of ‘A Christmas Carol’ , a cantata based on the Dickens novella, with words by Deborah McAndrew and music by Ashley Thompson. At All Saints, Leek.

27/04/2013 Concert featuring Brahms’  A German Requiem, sung in English (Ivor Atkins translation). With soprano soloist  Sarah Rowley,  baritone soloist David Wynne, organist Jordan Meakin and full orchestral accompaniment from   the Phoenix Festival Orchestra. The 40-piece Phoenix Festival Orchestra of professional musicians includes  players from The Halle Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of Birmingham  Symphony Orchestra. Also Elgar’s Serenade for Strings and Nimrod from his Enigma Variations. All Saints’  Church, Leek.

07/06/2014  ‘Remembrances’  Concert at All Saints Church, Leek, with singer/songwriter Johnny Coppin. The concert featured a wide range of material on the theme of war and peace, in acknowledgement of the centenary of the start of the 1st World War.

05/07/2014 Official opening of the WW1 Centenary display at the Nicholson Institute Leek. The choir sang 3 items.

19/07/2014  Charity Concert with Young Phoenix for ‘Home-Start Staffordshire Moorlands

13/09/2014  ‘First mile to war’ parade and service at the Nicholson Memorial to commemorate local people who were killed in WW1  The choir contributed to the service.

07/12/2014   First performance of the fully orchestrated version of  ‘A Christmas Carol’ (Ashley Thompson/Deborah McAndrew) at Stockport Town Hall, involving The Phoenix Singers and The Grove Singers, accompanied by Salford Symphony Orchestra.

01/12/2018    ‘Proms Night Spectacular’ with the British Police Symphony Orchestra (who were celebrating 25 yrs of making music) at                     the Symphony Hall,    Birmingham.  We teamed up with three other choirs and sang a varied ‘Proms night’ programme                      including  Beethoven’s Ode To Joy.
